So i finally got photos of the event listed in the post below.
I had two days to prepare, no sleep, stress eating up my stomach and oh it was just the biggest thing i’ve done, EVER!
It was the first time that Olvera Street was shut down for a concert event.
I was told there were 4,000+ folks there but some reviews of the event reported 6,000+. HIJOLE is right!
The day started at noon for sound check, there was a lot of drama and we didn’t sound check until about 3:30pm and our set time was supposed to be 8:30 but ended up running about 30mins late.
When I woke up I was freaking out and couldn’t really eat but ended up eating a little bit at the event. I thought that when people started to arrive and the first group went on I’d be freaking out and it would just grow until show time but strangely I felt at home on stage. Oh and I was in the front, stage left no less. There was no hiding especially with 3 large screens projecting the entire show. My canvas was 3′x5′ and I did a mix media piece using spray paint, collage with gel medium, stencils, acrylics, and magnum markers.
I’m a fan of Calle 13 so their music just fueled my energy and I did my piece in approx. 35 mins.
What a fucken experience! I honestly woke up the next day thinking it was a dream and until I got the photos from my friend Jo, I kept on thinking it was.
But the photos confirmed it and I hopefully will be getting video of the event from the concert promoters.
I’d like to thank the following people:
John “Pantalones” Pantle- thanks for thinking and fighting for me to get this gig oh yeah and basically making me do it. you are crazy and we love that.
